The DGA’s Independent Directors Committees (IDC) hosted receptions for Slamdance Film Festival filmmakers at the Guild’s headquarters in New York and Los Angeles.
Attendees at the Gotham reception on December 15 heard two of Slamdance’s founding directors, Paul Rachman (American Hardcore) and Tom Soper (Fast and Reliable), explain the workings of the festival, and Director Marilyn Agrelo (Mad Hot Ballroom; An Invisible Sign of My Own) told them about the support the DGA offers Directors on creative rights.
At the Hollywood reception on December 16, Slamdance’s President Peter Baxter and staff gave an overview of how the festival works, and IDC member Jamie Babbit (The Quiet) explained how easy it is for independent filmmakers to work with the DGA.
