Moderated by East Coast Special Projects Committee Chair Raymond DeFelitta (The Thing About My Folks), Ivory used clips to illustrate several recurring themes in his five decades of filmmaking: the intrigue and love found by the English abroad illustrated by Shakespeare Wallah, Quartet, Heat and Dust, and A Room with a View; the impact of World War II demonstrated by Mr. & Mrs. Bridge, The Remains of the Day and The White Countess; and a theme of the underlying eros in his films, as shown by A Soldier’s Daughter Never Cries, The Golden Bowl and Le Divorce.
At the conclusion of panel, Mr. Ivory treated those present to a scene from his soon to be released feature, The City of Your Final Destination.
